Clean sync refers to the process of completely erasing a MoneyWiz database (so that it displays no data) then signing into your SYNCbits account again to retrieve a fresh copy of data stored on the server.
Note that this is not the same as simply signing out of your SYNCbits account and signing back in because MoneyWiz keeps a local copy of your data on the device. In order to perform a really “clean” sync, we need to remove that copy.
The article below describes how to perform clean sync on various devices.
Please only do this if you’ve been asked to by our team as if misused this can lead to some unexpected results.
Clean sync on iPhone, iPad or iPod
If you wish to make a backup beforehand, please see this guide.
Please simply reinstall MoneyWiz as described here: How to reinstall MoneyWiz 2 on smartphones and tablets.
Important: even though the linked guide also mentions Android, in order to perform clean sync on Android you need to perform different steps (see below).
That’s it! When you start MoneyWiz again it’ll have no data so you can sign in to your SYNCbits account again – unless you wanted to erase SYNCbits data and start over – in which case you obviously don’t need to sign back in.
Clean sync on Android
If you wish to make a backup beforehand, please see this guide.
You’ll need to use some File Manager application and browse to the SD card memory (or your internal device memory) and then find MoneyWiz_2 folder – remove it entirely. Then please go to General Settings on your device -> Backups and disable automatic restore before installing MoneyWiz again (you are free to re-enable this after the process is complete).
Once this is done, please reinstall the application itself (like you reinstall any other application on your device).

Clean sync on Mac
It’s sufficient to remove the database file, leaving the application file intact. Please see this article for information on how to access the Mac database folder.
Once you find it, please find this folder and place it to Trash – unless you wish to make a backup of your data. In that case just move this file somewhere else.

Clean sync on Windows
It’s sufficient to remove the database file, leaving the application intact. The database file is located here:
C:\Users\user\AppData\Local\SilverWiz\MoneyWiz\moneywiz-release.db
Note that the AppData folder is hidden. Navigate to this path then move moneywiz-release.db file to Trash – unless you wish to make a backup of your data. In that case just move this file somewhere else.
