Checks remain a popular way of payment in some parts of the world. We're happy to say that MoneyWiz can allow you to track your checks inside the application.
Please note however that MoneyWiz cannot be used to print checks.
To add a check number to transaction, you first need to indicate that a given account has a checkbook register. If your local currency is USD and you're creating a Checking account, this will be enabled automatically. For other currencies, please go ahead and enable this now.
Once this feature has been enabled, please start creating a regular transaction. At the bottom of the list of fields, you'll see a "Show all" indicator:
Please click on that to reveal additional transaction fields, among which you should see "Check #" field. Please note that it's possible that it's somewhere else if you've modified your transaction layout settings. If it's not visible, please double-check the Checkbook register setting for this account - each account needs to have this setting toggled separately.
Type the check number in the Check # field. You'll also notice small + inside the text box - clicking this will allow you to increase the last remembered check value by 1. If this is your first check number, clicking on the + button will cause "1" to appear.
Once you're ready with your transaction, hit Save or ✓.
A couple of notes:
- check numbers cannot be currently reset,
- check number field can only contain digits.
You can reflect in MoneyWiz that a check has been voided. To begin, find the transaction with a check number in the Account register, click on it to expand the transaction and choose Options -> VOID check. The transaction amount will appear in strikethrough font styling and your account balance will ignore the voided check.
You can un-void a check by following the same steps.
