New transactions are synced to your Online Banking accounts only after they finish syncing. You might have noticed that sometimes you can initiate a sync manually, sometimes you are told that "Next refresh is available at" some time and sometimes the accounts seem to refresh automatically. In this article, we describe how it all works.
MoneyWiz will refresh your Online Banking accounts automatically if at least 19 hours have passed since last successful refresh. This limit is imposed not by us but by our Online Banking integration partners who wish to protect their servers from abuse. Automatic refresh attempt will take place on MoneyWiz startup and every 5 minutes while MoneyWiz is running - but only if those 19 hours since last refresh have already passed.
If you are a MoneyWiz Premium subscriber, you can enable background sync so that those attempts can take place while MoneyWiz is not running as well.
Manual refresh timeout (when you go into your account and click on the refresh button) is much shorter and is just 1 hour.
While 19 hours delay between automatic refreshes sounds long, we've found that in practice it's perfectly sufficient for most customers. Majority of our customer base check their finances once a day in the evening so that's enough time for automatic refresh to happen. And if you need for the refresh to happen sooner, there's always the sync button (manual refresh).
Please note that automatic refresh will not happen for accounts that require your intervention during authentication (for example, by providing a randomly generated code on your phone).
