Once we release an update to MoneyWiz, we encourage everyone to install it as soon as possible to take advantage of the new improvements, fixes and features. This is especially important with special updates that involve data migration. In case of such updates, you need to update MoneyWiz on all devices in order to avoid “You are using a newer version of MoneyWiz…” error.
The guide below provides instructions on how to install the latest update of MoneyWiz on your device.
Which version of MoneyWiz for Mac do I have now?
Your version of MoneyWiz for Mac might have been updated automatically or perhaps you forgot that you updated already. Therefore it might be worthwhile to check what version you have installed now.
On the iPad, iPhone, Android and Windows you can check the version number of MoneyWiz by going to Settings > About & Help > Look at the number just below the last button (Online help).
On a Mac, go to MoneyWiz in the menu bar, at the top, and then select About MoneyWiz. You will see the version number just below the MoneyWiz logo.
MoneyWiz for Mac
There are three ways to obtain MoneyWiz for Mac:
- Mac App Store
- our website
- Setapp subscription
Please see below for instructions for each of the versions. Not sure which one you own? First try updating it using the “our website” solution. If that works, you’re all set! If that one doesn’t work, try the “Mac App Store” one.
Updating MoneyWiz from Mac App Store
Please launch Mac App Store on your Mac (it can be launched by clicking on the Apple logo in the top left corner of the screen -> App Store) then head to Updates tab. Install all MoneyWiz updates you see there.
If you don’t see any updates, please wait 2 minutes – Mac App Store might still be checking for available updates.
If you still don’t see any updates, please make sure that you are signed in to your Apple ID, reboot your Mac and check for updates in an hour or two. Apple is responsible for delivering the updates to you through the Mac App Store channel and while they usually provide it equally fast to all countries, something might have slowed it down for your region.
Updating MoneyWiz from our website
Please launch MoneyWiz on your Mac, enter your 4-digit PIN code if required then click on MoneyWiz menubar item in the top left of the screen (near Apple logo) then click “Check for Updates”.
If you don’t see this item in that menu it means you did not download MoneyWiz from our website but either from Mac App Store or Setapp.
Updating MoneyWiz from Setapp
Please consult the Setapp support if you have trouble updating MoneyWiz through them.
Updating MoneyWiz for Windows PC
Quit MoneyWiz for Windows and launch it again. You should see an update prompt on startup. If you don’t see it make sure that you are connected to the Internet and try restarting MoneyWiz again.
If the update was released recently, please allow a couple hours for the update to propagate through the Internet and try again.
Updating MoneyWiz for iOS
Please launch App Store.app on your iOS device and head to Updates tab (iOS 12 and older) or tap on your avatar in the top-right and check available updates for your profile (iOS 13 and newer). Install all MoneyWiz updates you see there.
If you don’t see any updates available, make sure you’re signed into your Apple ID and try rebooting your device. If the update was released recently, please allow a couple hours for the update to propagate through the Internet and try again.
If you were a TestFlight beta tester, you'll need to remove the beta version you have and install the official release again if you want to switch back to stable channel.
Updating MoneyWiz for Android
Please launch the Google Play Store app on your Android device and head to Updates tab. Install all MoneyWiz updates you see there.
If you don’t see any updates available, make sure you’re signed into your Google Play Store ID and try rebooting your device. If the update was released recently, please allow a couple hours for the update to propagate through the Internet and try again.
