Update 2: 25 Sept 2019
We've recently started a private/closed beta with the Open Banking functionality (i.e. MoneyWiz is ready with the integration). The results so far are pretty mixed - some banks work great, some banks don't work at all, and some are in-between. We're working with SaltEdge to establish where the issues are but so far it seems that the majority of issues are with the banks themselves.
A few other issues were detected so far that are in the hands of SaltEdge to solve. We're hoping to see them solved by next week some time. Once they solve them we'll release update 3.6.2 publicly, which will include the Open Banking functionality, ability to edit pending transactions from accounts connected to a bank and a few other things. Once we release for iOS/macOS (hopefully next week some time), it will take us another week or so to release for Android and a few more weeks for Windows.
Update 1: 5 Sept 2019
The PSD2 directive in the European Union dictates a new standard for how banks can interact with third party software. Historically data aggregation platforms that allowed finance software to provide access to bank transactions to its users used screen-scraping technology to access this data. When PSD2 takes effect on Sept 14, 2019, that technology will be forbidden and replaced with Open Banking.
We're working with Salt Edge to provide access to banks that fall under the PSD2 directive. While we originally anticipated to be ready ahead of time, due to multiple legal and technical delays that our partner Salt Edge has experienced, we're running a bit late. The initial plan was for Salt Edge to be done sometime in June. In late August they thought they were done and we did our part. While we were testing though, new information came to light which required us to re-do the integration from scratch, hence the delays.
Our current projection is that MoneyWiz for iOS and macOS will be ready within that deadline or shortly after, and MoneyWiz for Android and Windows should follow by the end of September 2019 if all goes well.
For existing customers who have banks connected, if these banks fall under the PSD2 directive, they will stop refreshing after Sept 14, 2019 until we provide the new functionality. Once we do that (in update 3.6.1) MoneyWiz prompt you to re-connect your affected accounts using the new data aggregation platform. On the bright side, we can hope that once that technology is polished, syncing with PSD2 banks will be a more seamless process than it's ever been.
